A · Stamped frameRotated-square boundary, draftsman hairlines corner-to-corner, focal dot. Reads as a plot mark stamped into the ground; the cleanest small-size compression.
Plot mark, not gun-scope. The bid is here on the map.
Nine artifacts, drawn from the same thesis. The symbol borrows from real plot marks, USGS benchmarks, and DOT title-block geometry. The wordmark holds Switzer. The system stays disciplined: indigo, graphite, chamois, no decoration.
Indigo + graphite on chamoisDefault everywhere. "Bid" in graphite, "Seek" in indigo, symbol in indigo. The action verb carries the brand mark.
Graphite on chamoisSingle-color contexts: B&W bid forms, faxed paperwork, embossed documents, low-color print.
Chamois on indigoHero contexts: app icon background, marketing hero, social avatars, swag.
B · Benchmark discOuter disc + inner rotated square + hairlines. Most "found-object" reading; closest to a USGS brass benchmark. Layered geometry; risks crowding under 32 px.
C · Floating crossNo frame. Long hairlines with terminal ticks (drafting dimension-line affordance), focal dot. Most distinctive; most departure-prone; relies on the hairlines reading at small sizes.
A · Switzer 700, two-tone (recommended canonical)"Bid" in graphite, "Seek" in indigo. Splits at the camelCase pivot; the action verb carries the brand mark. Distinctive vs. typical mono-color B2B wordmarks. Mono and reverse contexts collapse to a single color (see B and C).
B · Switzer 700, tight, mono indigoSingle-color version. Used in marketing surfaces where the two-tone reads as visually busy, or anywhere we want the wordmark to read as a single object. Also the canonical in mono fallback when graphite-on-chamois.
C · Switzer 600, default trackingLetter-spacing −0.015em. Lighter weight, better for editorial contexts. At small sizes the looser tracking improves legibility. Backup if 700 reads as too heavy in long-form contexts.
A · Horizontal, two-tone (canonical)Symbol left of wordmark. "Bid" graphite, "Seek" indigo, symbol indigo. The default lockup; sits in the rail head, document footers, email signatures, sentence-flow contexts.
B · Stacked, two-tone (square contexts)Symbol above wordmark, centered. For app icons (without the indigo fill), social avatars, business card fronts, swag. Two-tone preserved.
A · iOS / Android — symbol on indigo, rounded squareReverse treatment. The symbol's optical center sits at 56% from the top to compensate for the bottom-heavy reading at icon scale. Border radius 22% per iOS convention.
B · Notification preview (real-context test)How the icon reads next to a notification headline at 60 px. The plot mark holds; the focal dot is the sole point of identity at this scale.
Smallest-size proofThe actual-size column is the size the browser will render. The 4× crop column lets us inspect optical hinting decisions: stroke weight choices that read at 16px, dot size at 1.5×scale, hairline opacity at 0.55 to keep the cross subordinate to the dot.
